Shutdown continues in Kupwara for second day

Srinagar, August 25 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, normal life remained affected in Kupwara district for the second successive day, today, due to a strike against killing of a student, Shahid Bashir, by Indian troops in a fake encounter in Handwara town.

All shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the road.

As the body of Shahid Bashir was handed over to locals on Wednesday evening, they refused to lay him to rest and instead marched towards Tarathpora – the native village of the martyred student – where they staged a massive demonstration throughout the night against his killing.

Meanwhile, the puppet authorities have announced magisterial enquiry into the killing of Shahid Bashir. While ordering a magisterial inquiry into the killing – apart from issuing NOC in favour of the slain youth – deputy commissioner of Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir said that the inquiry would be completed in a week time.
