Mirwaiz hails Pakistan, OIC for highlighting Kashmir dispute

Srinagar, September 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has welcomed the statement of Pakistan Prime Minister, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, at the UNGA wherein he raised Indian atrocities in the occupied territory and called for peaceful and early settlement the Kashmir dispute.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said, Pakistan has always raised the Kashmir dispute at international forums and advocated its settlement in accordance with the Kashmiris’ will and aspirations. He said the people of Kashmir deeply appreciate the diplomatic and moral support extended by Pakistan to their just cause.

He said that as far as Kashmiri people and leadership were concerned, they had always wished for better and cordial relationship between India and Pakistan and sought resolution of all issues including the Kashmir conflict through dialogue.

“New Delhi should realize that a military approach and use of brute force can never resolve the Kashmir issue, which is a political and a human issue and needs to be addressed through a bold approach and a meaningful dialogue process among all stakeholders – India, Pakistan and the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

The Mirwaiz also thanked the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states for their full support to the Kashmiris’ just struggle for securing their right to self-determination at a recent OIC foreign ministers’ meet. He also thanked the OIC for inviting him to attend the meet which he couldn’t because of denial of travel documents by the Indian authorities.

The Mirwaiz also castigated New Delhi for adopting double-standards while dealing with the Rohingya Muslims and asked that if Chakma and Tibet people are treated as refugees, what makes the Muslims of Myanmar illegal immigrants. He said it is sad that Rohingya Muslims who are fleeing after being persecuted are branded as illegal immigrants by the government of India.
