Pakistani PM’s speech at un hailed

Shutdown observed in IOK today
Srinagar, September 25 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has hailed the speech of Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at the UN General Assembly on Kashmir.

Syed Ali Gilani in his statement issued in Srinagar said that the Prime Minister’s address was eloquent, apt and represented the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He appreciated Pakistan’s moral support to the Kashmir cause and stressed the international community to resolve the Kashmir dispute without any further delay. Syed Ali Gilani said, it has been proved that Pakistan is sincere and well-wisher for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik talking to media persons in Srinagar while welcoming the speech urged Islamabad to raise at all world forums the Kashmir issue and brutalities perpetrated by Indian troops in the occupied territory.

Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed in Srinagar and other parts of the occupied territory against the summoning of Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation President, Muhammad Yasin Khan by India’s National Investigation Agency. Khan was asked to appear before NIA in New Delhi, today. Call for the strike was given by the representatives of different trade and transporters’ bodies, and was backed by the joint resistance leadership and Kashmir Bar Association. Shops and other business establishments and educational institutions were closed, while public transport remained off the road in Srinagar and other parts of the territory. In view of the strike, the authorities also suspended train service across the Kashmir valley.

Dozens of traders defying restrictions staged a sit-in protest at Partap Park in Srinagar. They announced to continue their protests till Muhammad Yasin Khan returned from New Delhi. Besides, the NIA also summoned Kashmir University scholar Aala Fazili to its headquarters in New Delhi. The Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement said the line of action adopted by NIA and Enforcement Directorate was purely aimed at changing the focus from the real issue of Kashmir and defaming every segment of Kashmiri society.

Indian army continued its cordon and search operation for the second consecutive day in Uri area of Baramulla district, today. The troops have killed three youth and injured as many civilians in the two-day military operation in the area.

On the other hand, speakers at a seminar in Geneva vowed to play their dutiful role in highlighting the sufferings of Kashmiri women. They called for urgent resolution of the dispute to save the next generation from the trauma. The panelists included MEP from Brussels, Ms Julie Ward, Sirius Boyd, Dr G.Jourdan, Dr Raheel Qazi, Shagufta Ashraf, Sardar Ashraf, Ms Shamim Shawl and Altaf Wani.
