Srinagar, September 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, people staged forceful demonstrations in Islamabad town, today, against a fresh incident of braid-cutting in the adjoining Kulgam district.
The latest braid-chopping incident took place in Nihama area of Kulgam district at 10 am. The victim is mother of three children and is under treatment at Public Health Center Nihama.
People took to the streets and staged forceful protests in Lal Chowk area of Islamabad town against the unabated braid-chopping incidents. Indian police fired teargas shells to disperse the protesters, triggering clashes between the protesters and the police personnel. The clashes soon spread to other areas of the town including Achabal Adda and Reeshi Bazar.
On the other hand, scores of protesters, mostly women, hit the streets at Nowgam in Srinagar soon after rumours about the presence of hair-choppers in the area. They raised slogans against the braid chopping.
Meanwhile, police have arrested two non-Kashmiris for questioning after braid-chopping rumours in Hadipora, Rafiabad area of north Kashmir.
It is to mention here that on Friday also five more braid-cutting incidents were reported in Islamabad and Badgam districts. So far the police and the puppet authorities are clueless about the culprits.
Last month, according to police 60 incidents of cutting of braids were reported from Rehari, Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri, Reasi, Doda and Udhampur districts of Jammu region, triggering panic among the people there.
