Srinagar, July 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed in Pulwama district to mourn the death of two youth, Shariq Ahmed Sheikh and Shabbir Ahmed (Showkat) by Indian troops in Tahab area of the district on Sunday.

Shariq Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Takuna Gulzarpora and Shabbir Ahmed (Showkat) of Mehind Bhijbehra were killed by Indian troops during a cordon and search operation. Continue reading

Resistance leaders denounce killing of youth by troops

Srinagar, July 22 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed in Beerwah town and its adjoining areas in Budgam district, today, to protest against the killing of a youth in Indian Army’s firing.

The youth, Tanveer Ahmad Wani, a young tailor, was shot dead by army personnel during protests in Beerwah town, yesterday. All shops and other business establishments remained closed in the town, Khag and Aripanthan areas, today, to mourn the killing of the youth. The occupation authorities had imposed strict restrictions and sealed all entry and exit points of Beerwah town to prevent people from staging demonstrations against the killing.

Complete strike was also observed in Zirpora area of Bijbehara – the home town of puppet Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti – against the desecration of a mosque and other atrocities by Indian forces. Shutdown in IOK against killings

Srinagar, July 21 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed, today, to protest against the surge in killings by Indian forces in the territory.

Call for the shutdown has been given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The leaders have also called for a peaceful sit-in protest outside the UN office at Sonawar in Srinagar after Juma prayers to urge the United Nations to ask India to stop the massacre of people in Kashmir and to remind the World Body to fulfill its commitments made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Call for shutdown, sit-in outside UN office in IOK tomorrow

Srinagar, July 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the joint resistance leadership has called for a complete shutdown and a peaceful sit-in protest outside the UN office in Srinagar, tomorrow (Friday), against the surge in killings by Indian forces in the territory.

The leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik in a joint statement in Srinagar said, “Kashmiris are being killed and branded as terrorists in the garb of fighting ‘Islamic terrorism’.” The leaders said that the killing of youth after calling them militants, over ground workers (OGWs) of militants, protesters, secessionists, and sympathizers of the movement was the systematic and planned execution of the Kashmiris to wipe them out with impunity. Shutdown in Islamabad district against killings

Srinagar, July 19 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a complete shutdown is being observed in Islamabad district, today, against the killing of three youth in fake encounter and an elderly man by Indian troops in Nowgam and Arwani areas of the district.

The youth identified as Muzaffar Hajam, Showkat Lohar and Naseer Ahmed were killed after police and army opened fire on their car at Watergam in Bulbul Nowgam on Monday night while an elderly man injured in army firing earlier in the day in Arwani area succumbed last night. Continue reading

Srinagar, July 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed in Pulwama town, today, to protest against the use of brute force on protesters by Indian troops.

A youth was hit by a bullet after the troops of Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) opened fire to disperse protesters in the town, yesterday.

JKCC observing shutdown in IOK todayHeated debate in so-called assembly over GST

Srinagar, July 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the new front put up by the Kashmiri business community in the name of Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee (JKCC) is observing shutdown against the detention of various traders and businessmen in the territory.

Police on Tuesday detained at least 100 traders and other businessmen outside the Srinagar Civil Secretariat when they were protesting against the Goods and Services Tax (GST) implementation in the territory. Among the arrested were Shakeel Qalandar, Muhammad Yasin Khan and Dr Mubeen Shah. They were put under house detention. The JKCC, an amalgam comprising traders, hoteliers, industrialists and civil society members, called for a complete shutdown against the detentions. Continue reading

Shutdown in Pulwama areas against killings

Srinagar, June 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in several areas of Pulwama district on Friday to mourn the death of four youth who were killed by Indian troops yesterday.

The troops killed three youth during a siege and search operation in Kakapora area of Pulwama district. A civilian, Tauseef Ahmad Wani, was martyred in the firing of Indian troops on the demonstrators who were protesting against the operation. Continue reading

South Kashmir will observe shutdown on Nisar’s anniversary

Srinagar, June 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Ummat-e- Islami, Qazi Yasir has called for shutdown in south Kashmir on Monday to commemorate the 23rd martyrdom anniversary of his father and party founder, Qazi Nisar Ahmad.

Qazi Nisar Ahmad, a popular religious and political leader was killed by unidentified gunmen at Dialgam village near Islamabad town on June 19, 1994. Continue reading
