Demos in Islamabad town after fresh braid-cutting incident

Srinagar, September 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, people staged forceful demonstrations in Islamabad town, today, against a fresh incident of braid-cutting in the adjoining Kulgam district.

The latest braid-chopping incident took place in Nihama area of Kulgam district at 10 am. The victim is mother of three children and is under treatment at Public Health Center Nihama. Continue reading


Students take out big Muharram procession in Kargil

Kargil, September 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, hundreds of students took out a Muharram procession in Kargil town, today.

The students of various branches of Muthhary Public School in Kargil took out the procession from New Bus-stand. It passed through Fatima Chowk, Islamia School Chowk and Khomeini Chowk and cumulated at Hussaini Park in the town. Continue reading

Srinagar, September 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a delegation comprising Hurriyat leaders, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo and Imtiyaz Ahmed Reshi, visited Sopore, today, to express solidarity with the bereaved family of a martyred youth, Abdul Qayoom Najar.

Restrictions continue in Srinagar to prevent Muharram processions

Srinagar, September 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities continue to impose strict restrictions in Srinagar on the second consecutive day, today, to prevent people from taking out Muharram processions.

The authorities have deployed Indian troops and police and paramilitary personnel in full riot gear across the city to stop the Muharram processions. Pedestrian movement has been suspended while the forces’ personnel have placed coils of razor-fitted wire on the main roads to prevent movement of traffic. Continue reading

Srinagar, September 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has expressed serious concern over the increasing lawlessness, harassment, bullying by Indian forces’ personnel and incidents of braid chopping in the territory.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar suspected the involvement of Indian forces in the braid chopping incidents and said in a highly militarized zone, the culprits go unnoticed. He said the silence and incapability of the puppet authorities speaks volumes about the grave situation. It is highly condemnable that despite attacks on modesty of womenfolk by these mysterious elements, the authorities are not ashamed of their failure, he said. Continue reading
